Managing Account Managers

Billing account managers are the people who can manage your Driive account itself — billing, the subscription, and the organizations under it. If you handle invoices with a bookkeeper, share ownership with a business partner, or want a second person who can create and delete organizations, add them as a manager.

What managers can do

Every manager has the same access to the account portal:

  • Billing — View invoices, add payment methods, change or cancel the subscription, and purchase credits.
  • Organizations — Create new organizations under the account and delete existing ones.
  • Managers — Add or remove other account managers.

Being a manager is separate from being a team member. A manager doesn't need to belong to any organization to manage the account — and being an admin inside an organization doesn't make someone an account manager.

Adding a manager

  1. Open the account portal from your user menu and go to Managers.
  2. Select Add manager.
  3. Enter the person's email address and select Add manager.

Important: The person must already have a Driive account. If they've never signed in to Driive, ask them to sign up first, then add them by the email they signed up with.

The new manager gets access the next time they sign in (or when their session refreshes). They'll see Billing, Organizations, and Managers in their user menu.

Removing a manager

  1. Go to Managers in the account portal.
  2. Select Remove next to the manager.
  3. Confirm the removal.

The person immediately loses access to billing, organizations, and manager settings. Their team memberships are not affected — if they belong to an organization, they keep working there as usual.

You can also remove yourself: select Leave next to your own name. You'll be taken back into the app, and another manager will have to add you back if you need access again.

Rules to know

  • The account owner can't be removed. The person who created the account is marked with an Owner badge and always keeps access.
  • The last manager can't be removed. An account always has at least one manager, so you can't lock everyone out.
  • All managers are equal. Any manager can add or remove other managers — there are no permission levels between them.
