Monthly vs. Annual Billing

Driive offers two billing frequencies: monthly and annual. Both give you full access to every feature — the difference is how often you're charged and how much you save.

Annual billing is typically discounted compared to paying monthly for 12 months. The exact savings are shown on the billing page when you view the upgrade option.

How to switch from monthly to annual

Switching to annual billing locks in your discounted rate for a full year:

  1. Go to Account > Billing.

  2. Click Switch to Annual (or the upgrade option shown on your billing page).

  3. Review the proration preview — this shows you exactly what you'll be charged today and how your existing balance is credited.

  4. Confirm the switch.

The change takes effect immediately. You're charged the annual rate minus a prorated credit for the unused portion of your current monthly billing period.

How proration works

When you switch from monthly to annual (or vice versa), Driive prorates your charges so you never pay double:

  • Switching to annual: You receive a credit for the unused days remaining on your current monthly period. That credit is subtracted from the annual price, and you're charged the difference.

  • Switching to monthly: The change takes effect at the end of your current annual period. You continue with full access for the remainder of your prepaid year, and monthly billing begins when it expires.

For example, if you're 10 days into a monthly billing cycle and switch to annual:

  1. You get a credit for the remaining 20 days of the monthly cycle.

  2. That credit is applied against the annual price.

  3. You pay the annual price minus the credit.

The proration preview screen shows the exact amounts before you confirm, so there are no surprises.

Switching from annual to monthly

If you want to move from annual billing back to monthly:

  1. Go to Account > Billing.

  2. Open the billing portal by clicking Manage.

  3. Change your billing frequency to monthly.

The switch takes effect at the end of your current annual period. You keep full access for the rest of the year you've already paid for, and monthly billing starts on the next renewal date.

Note: Switching from annual to monthly does not trigger a refund for the remaining annual period. You continue to use the service through the end of the prepaid year.

Which should you choose?

  • Choose monthly if you're new to Driive and want flexibility, or if your team size fluctuates seasonally.

  • Choose annual if you're committed to Driive and want to save money. Annual billing is the best value, especially as your team grows — the per-seat discount applies to every seat.

You can always start monthly and switch to annual later when you're ready.
