Seat-Based Pricing

Driive uses seat-based pricing so your cost scales with the size of your team. You pay a base plan price plus a per-seat charge for each active team member. This keeps pricing fair — you're never paying for capacity you don't use.

How seats are counted

Each active team member in your organization counts as one seat. Here's what that means in practice:

  • Active members = seats. If you have 5 active team members, you have 5 seats.

  • Pending invitations do not count. A person who has been invited but hasn't accepted yet does not add to your seat count.

  • Deactivated members do not count. If you deactivate a team member, your seat count decreases and your cost goes down on the next billing cycle.

Seat count syncs automatically — there's no manual updating required. When someone joins or leaves, your count adjusts.

How your cost is calculated

Your monthly or annual cost follows this formula:

Total cost = Base plan price + (Seat price x Number of active seats)

For example, if your base plan is $49/month and the seat price is $15/month, and you have 4 active team members:

$49 + ($15 x 4) = $49 + $60 = $109/month

The pricing breakdown

You can see exactly how your cost is calculated on the billing page:

  1. Go to Account > Billing.

  2. Look at the Pricing Breakdown section.

The breakdown shows:

  • Base cost — Your plan's fixed monthly or annual price.

  • Seat cost — The per-seat charge multiplied by your active seat count.

  • Total — The combined amount that will be charged on your next billing date.

This breakdown updates in real time as your team changes, so you always know what to expect on your next invoice.

Adding a team member

When you invite someone and they accept, your seat count increases by one. The additional seat cost is prorated — you only pay for the portion of the billing cycle remaining.

For example, if you add a team member halfway through a monthly billing cycle, you're charged half the monthly seat price for that first partial period. From the next cycle onward, the full seat price applies.

Removing a team member

When you deactivate a team member:

  • Your seat count decreases immediately.

  • You receive a prorated credit for the unused portion of that seat's billing period.

  • The credit is applied to your next invoice.

Frequently asked questions

Does the account owner count as a seat? Yes. Every active team member counts as a seat, including the person who created the account.

What if I have team members who only use Driive occasionally? Every active member is a seat regardless of how often they log in. If someone doesn't need access, consider deactivating them to reduce your seat count. You can always reactivate them later.

Can I set a maximum number of seats? Not currently. Your seat count is determined by the number of active team members. If you're concerned about cost as your team grows, annual billing offers savings that can help.

How do I check my current seat count? Go to Account > Billing. Your seat count is displayed prominently on the billing page and in the pricing breakdown.
