Seat-Based Pricing

Driive uses seat-based pricing so your cost scales with the size of your team. Every paid plan includes 3 seats, and you pay a per-seat charge for each additional user beyond those. This keeps pricing fair — you're never paying for capacity you don't use.

How seats are counted

Each user in your organization counts as one seat. Here's what that means in practice:

  • Users = seats. If you have 5 users, you have 5 seats.
  • Pending invitations count. A person you've invited holds a seat from the moment the invite is sent, even before they accept. If someone isn't going to join, cancel their invite to free the seat.
  • Removed users do not count. If you remove a user, your seat count decreases right away.

Seat count syncs automatically — there's no manual updating required. When someone joins or leaves, your count adjusts.

How your cost is calculated

Every paid plan includes 3 seats. Your monthly or annual cost follows this formula:

Total cost = Plan price + (Per-seat price x Seats beyond the 3 included)

For example, if you have 5 users, the first 3 are covered by your plan and you pay the per-seat charge for the 2 additional seats. With 3 or fewer users, you pay only the plan price — no seat charges at all. The per-seat rate is shown alongside each plan on the billing page.

The pricing breakdown

You can see exactly how your cost is calculated on the billing page:

  1. Go to Account > Billing.
  2. Look at the Pricing Breakdown section.

The breakdown shows:

  • Base cost — Your plan's fixed monthly or annual price, which covers the 3 included seats.
  • Seat cost — The per-seat charge multiplied by the seats beyond the included 3.
  • Total — The combined amount that will be charged on your next billing date.

This breakdown updates in real time as your team changes, so you always know what to expect on your next invoice.

Adding a user

When you invite someone, your seat count increases by one right away — pending invites hold a seat. If that puts you above the 3 included seats, the additional seat cost is prorated — you only pay for the portion of the billing cycle remaining.

For example, if you add a user halfway through a monthly billing cycle, you're charged half the monthly seat price for that first partial period. From the next cycle onward, the full seat price applies.

Removing a user

When you remove a user:

  • Your seat count decreases immediately.
  • You receive a prorated credit for the unused portion of that seat's billing period.
  • The credit is applied to your next invoice.

Frequently asked questions

Does the person who created the account count as a seat? Yes. Every user counts as a seat, including Admins and the person who created the account. The first 3 seats are included in your plan.

What if I have users who only use Driive occasionally? Every user is a seat regardless of how often they log in. If someone doesn't need access, consider removing them to reduce your seat count. You can always re-invite them later if needed.

Do pending invites really count? Yes — a seat is held from the moment the invite goes out, whether or not it's been accepted. If an invite is stale, cancel it to stop paying for the seat.

Can I set a maximum number of seats? Not currently. Your seat count is determined by the number of users on your account. If you're concerned about cost as your team grows, annual billing offers savings that can help.

How do I check my current seat count? Go to Account > Billing. Your seat count is displayed prominently on the billing page and in the pricing breakdown.
