Teams Overview

Teams in Driive are groups of users that you use to organize scheduling and assignment. Think of them as your real-world crews mapped into the platform — "Install Crew," "Service Techs," "Roofing Crew A," or whatever makes sense for your business.

What is a team?

A team is a named group of one or more users. Teams let you:

  • Organize your people — Group technicians, installers, or service reps by skill set, department, or crew.
  • Route the right work to the right crew — When you configure an appointment type, you choose which teams (or individual users) are eligible for it. Only eligible people are offered when Driive finds a time.
  • Set crew-level schedules — Each team can have its own working hours and service area, layered on top of your business hours.

A user can belong to multiple teams. A versatile technician might be on both "HVAC Team" and "Electrical Team" — and when someone is on multiple teams, being available on any of them counts.

How teams relate to appointment types

When you configure an appointment type, you select which teams are eligible to handle that service. This connection determines:

  • Who Driive offers when scheduling — Whether you're picking a slot with Find a Time or a customer is booking through your booking page, only people from eligible teams are considered.
  • What customers see — Booking pages only show time slots where an eligible person is actually available, so customers are automatically routed to the right crew.

For example, if your "Roof Inspection" appointment type is assigned to the "Roofing Crew" team, customers booking a roof inspection only see availability for that crew.

How a team picks who gets the job

Each team has a Scheduling Type that controls how work is spread across its members:

Scheduling typeHow it works
Best availableOffers times from whichever member fits the schedule best.
Round robinTakes turns — each new appointment goes to the next member in line, so everyone gets an even share.

You'll find this setting on the team's General tab.

How teams relate to availability

Availability in Driive is layered, and teams are one of the layers. When Driive works out whether someone can take a job for a given team, it checks the most specific schedule first and falls back from there:

  1. The person's team-specific hours — hours set on their membership within that team.
  2. The person's general hours — their own individual availability.
  3. The team's hours — set on the team's Availability tab.
  4. Your business hours — the organization-wide default.

So if you've set nothing special, everyone follows business hours. Give the Install Crew earlier hours, and its members follow those. Give one installer their own schedule on that team, and their membership hours win — for that team only.

Note: Because a user on multiple teams is checked per team, someone can be bookable through "Service Techs" in the morning and "Install Crew" in the afternoon. Being available on any of their teams is enough for that team's work.

Teams can also carry their own service area — useful when one crew covers a different region than the rest of the company. See Availability and Service Area for the full picture.

Where to find teams

You manage teams from the sidebar: Setup > Teams. From this page you can:

  • View all your teams with their name, description, and member count
  • Create a new team
  • Click into a team to manage its General, Members, Availability, and Service Area tabs

Users themselves are managed from Setup > Users, where you invite people, change roles, and view everyone across all teams.
