Rescheduling an Appointment
Plans change. When a customer needs to move their appointment or your team's schedule shifts, Driive makes it easy to reschedule without losing any of the appointment's details, history, or assignments.
Rescheduling a Scheduled appointment
- Open the appointment and click Edit Appointment.
- Pick the new time, either way:
- Find a time tab — Browse real availability (the same drive-time-aware picker used for scheduling) and confirm a slot. Picking a slot can also update who's assigned, since slots are computed per user.
- Edit details tab — Set the date, start time, and end time directly. The end time slides with the start so the duration is preserved. You can also reassign users, update the service address, and edit tech notes here.
- Save. Because the time changed, Driive asks "Save changes?" with a Send update to customer checkbox — checked by default. Leave it on to send the customer their updated details by SMS and/or email, or uncheck it for silent internal shuffles.
The appointment stays Scheduled with the new time, assigned users get updated calendar events, and the change — old time and new — is logged in the activity feed.
Tip: The Edit details tab lets you type any date and time, even outside the slots the picker offers — handy when you've already agreed on a time with the customer. Glance at the calendar first to make sure the assigned user is actually free.
Starting over: Revert to Needs Scheduled
Sometimes you don't have a new time yet — the customer canceled the slot but still wants the work done. Instead of guessing at a time, send the appointment back to the scheduling queue:
- Open the appointment and click Edit Appointment.
- On the Edit details tab, choose Revert to Needs Scheduled.
- Confirm in the dialog.
Driive clears the current time and assignees, removes the calendar events, and moves the appointment back to Needs Scheduled — where you can share the booking link so the customer picks a new time, or book one yourself when it's settled. A Needs scheduled issue reappears in your Inbox so it isn't forgotten.
Reopening a Canceled appointment
A canceled appointment isn't gone for good. If the customer comes back around:
- Open the canceled appointment.
- Click Reschedule — the one action available on a canceled appointment.
- Driive reopens it at Needs Scheduled, with everything intact, and drops you on the Schedule tab to pick a new time.
No re-entering the customer, the answers, or the address — just book the new slot.
What notifications are sent
- The customer — An updated confirmation by email and/or SMS when you leave Send update to customer checked (see your notification settings).
- Assigned users — Updated calendar events; removed events when you revert to Needs Scheduled.
- The activity feed — Every reschedule is logged with the old and new times, so you always have the paper trail.
